As we experience a total eclipse of the sun today (see earlier post for technical details), what does it mean for us on a spiritual level? How can we best harness the energies of the eclipse? It is a comic alignment of the moon, sun and earth which, I believe, intensifies the energies coming from the center of our galaxy. This energy can bring light to that which is part of our shadow consciousness, and can also help us manifest what we desire and want to create in the world or our lives.
The intensity of this experience may be cause for more difficulty and struggle. Old ways of limiting thinking and and doing may be taking a stronger hold on us, much to our disappointment. But at the same time if we can bring ourselves around to harness the eclipse energy for positive change, it presents a great opportunity to release the old ways and limitations and make a significant step in establishing our new realities.
My recommendation for today is to take time to be in a creative space. This is a rare solar eclipse lasting over six minutes. It won’t happen again for over a century. It is the new moon. It is time to make a strong statement of our vision for our futures, what we want in our lives and the world. It is a time to set our intentions for greater freedom and abundant life, or for whatever else it is that we desire for ourselves. If you are a sensitive person, then you are most certainly feeling the intensity of the eclipse today. Have the courage to gently guide your efforts towards reflection, and whatever creative practice it is that you do.
